Members and roles

How people join a project and what Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Developer can do.

Who can change membership

Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Platform Administrators add or remove members and assign project roles. Changes are recorded. Removing someone ends the membership rather than deleting their past work.

  • The person must already have signed in once, so their account exists.
  • A project keeps at least one Product Owner.
  • You cannot remove your own membership.
  • Adding someone does not send an email invite.

What each role changes

  • Product Owner: epics, user stories, priority, acceptance criteria, story acceptance, release decisions, document publish, membership, and project tags.
  • Scrum Master: child items, sprint start and close, capacity, document publish, membership, emergency Definition of Done override.
  • Developer and specialty labels: create and edit child work, estimate points, move the board, comment, and log time.

Story points are set by the Scrum team. The Product Owner does not override them.
