Agile Buddy guide
How to use Agile Buddy
A first session: sign in, open your work, and move an item through the project.
Start a session
- Open Agile Buddy and choose Sign in. Complete the Microsoft prompt for your organization.
- Land on Home. With no project membership, follow the note at the top. Otherwise My Work and Action Required list what is assigned to you and what is waiting on you.
- Open Projects and choose a project key. The project nav is Backlog, Board, Sprints, Releases, Roadmap, Documents, Reviews, Members, and Reports.
Move a piece of work
- On Backlog, open an item. The key looks like PROJECT-12.
- Read the description, acceptance criteria, and checklist. A user story needs a clear description, acceptance criteria, and story points before it can move to In progress.
- Assign yourself if you are taking it. Start the timer on the item when you begin. The running timer stays in the header until you stop it.
- Move the card on the Board, or change status on the item. Blocked asks for a reason. The board and the sprint list every Blocked item with that reason.
- On the item, add a stored link: blocked by, or relates to. Choose the other item's key from work items in projects you belong to. The link does not change status. A parent item is not a blocker. Dependencies on a User Story lists that story and its Feature, Task, and Bug children. An arrow appears only for a stored Blocked by link.
- Comment on the item. Type @ to mention an active project member. They see it in Mentions.
If you are setting the work up
- Product Owners create epics and user stories, order the backlog, and write acceptance criteria.
- Scrum Masters and developers add tasks, features, and bugs under a user story, and set story points during refinement.
- On Sprints, create a planned sprint, set dates and team capacity, pull in ready work, then start it. A project has one active sprint.
- When the sprint ends, close it, then open Reviews for the sprint review and retrospective.
Need a project that does not exist yet? Project Managers use project intake.
